JUNE 2024

Dear Friends of Unity,

It was a busy May at Unity Church of Greenville and it looks like June will be as well. In May, we had a wonderful Mother’s Day Sunday Celebration and in June we will celebrate Father’s Day. Even if you are neither a father or mother, we all had both, and we/they deserve acknowledgement. We had a wonderful Yard Sale on May 17-18 which generated just over $2,000. A big thank you to Sandy Lipe for managing the sale and all the people that supported the effort. In addition, we had a workshop on The Truth About Headaches led by Elizabeth Phelps, a workshop on Essential Oils in the Ancient Scriptures led by Linda Smith, and our weekly Yoga Classes, Meditation Classes, A Course in Miracles Classes, and our varied Spirit Group meetings. We have so many talented leaders and we are grateful.

Some big events are planned for June. On Sunday, June 16th , Amy Steinberg will be back to share her music, stories, and the message at our 10:30am Celebration Service. That evening at 6:00pm, she will do a Music and Meditation Concert for a suggested $20 love offering.

For over two decades, Spirit has blessed Unity Church of Greenville with the spiritual leadership of our Ministers, Reverends James and Leah King. James and Leah arrived in Greenville in 2004 and this June we will celebrate their 20 years as our Ministers and as our friends. On Sunday, June 23rd, we will honor James and Leah with a celebratory service at 10:30 AM. This will be followed by a pot luck, fellowship, a dedication, and other special and fun activities. We are inviting all current members, former members, and friends to celebrate with us and show your appreciation for James and Leah’s dedication and leadership. Let us all show up and be part of this wonderful celebration.

At the May Board Meeting, A motion was made and adopted to open a “Bit Coin Account” with River Financial which will allow the church to accept donations in bitcoin. This provides another vehicle for receiving contributions. As of April 30 th , our financial position is: Operating Cash: $13,124, Operating Reserve: $24,100, Building Fund Restricted: $20,293, YOU Fund: $1,888, Facilities Maintenance Fund: $37, Landscape and Garden Fund: $1,020, and Schwab Cash and Securities: $25,696. We truly thank you and appreciate all your support.

Remember to greet our first- and second-timers coming to our Sunday Celebration Services. Let us all make an effort to welcome them. It is as simple as saying Hi, it’s nice to meet you. A smile and greeting goes a long way.And finally, we are grateful to all the volunteers who donate their time, energy, and skills to keep the church operating, maintained, and able to provide our spiritual, educational, and community service programs. THANK YOU!

Lovingly Submitted,
Michael Shapiro
