From Your Board

January/february 2024

Dear Friends:
This will be my last letter as Unity Church of Greenville’s President. I would like to convey my gratitude for the support and guidance I have received from Revs James & Leah and the Unity Board members over the last two years – first as Vice President and then as President. I learned a great deal about the church’s inner workings and, if called, I encourage you to say YES to being part of the Unity Church of Greenville’s Board. I am so proud of all we have accomplished in the past two years, and I have no doubt the board will continue these successes in the future.

It has been a pleasure being a part of the Unity Church of Greenville Board. There have been so many great changes since recovering from the COVID lockdown, and I hope to see even more and better changes as we move forward into the future. I have great confidence in the incoming Board and know they will take our church in a positive and upward direction.

I close with this: Jesus the Christ taught us in Matthew 22:37-39

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

But I see this as THREE commandments. The first, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. The second, Love YOURSELF – without loving yourself you can never accomplish the third lesson, which is Love your neighbor as yourself.

I challenge you for 2024 and into the future, to work on this teaching and use the suggestion of love to aid you to do your part to make Unity Church of Greenville better than what it was pre-COVID. Let your main focus be a beacon of light and love in the Greenville community and the world. Thank you for the opportunity to serve.

Lovingly submitted,
Pam Riddle
